Although an artist is charged with the responsibility for the creation of his or her art, the community in which and for whom it is created, the audience, is integral to the process.
As I was working on the demos of these songs over many years, I realized that my goal of giving them the best settings for them to sent into the world took me beyond my depth and experience. I've been creating and releasing recording projects since 1985, but this CD is the first one for which I've contracted with an outside producer.
Finding the right producer (Ken Whiteley) also necessitated that I travel to his location (Toronto, Ontario) and work with the session musicians that he pulled together. In my other projects, I was the primary musician for nearly all the instruments. For this one, I was able to ride on the waves of inspiration and talent that was eagerly shared by Ken, George, Brad, Chris, Anne and Eve, the other musicians. The outcome is just what I hoped for and I'm very excited about the results! The process and the combination of talent also resulted in a much higher expense to create this recording than any of the others I've produced.
I am also seeking to provide for much wider distribution to help find a larger audience with this recording, which also costs more that I've spent in the past.
As an independent musician and label with limited resources, I was very moved when, at one of my gigs, a person stepped forward to offer support for this endeavor (even without an invitation!) I know how much I enjoy supporting artists whose work moves me and decided to offer this opportunity to those who wish to help.
